About
Something to Be Desired (or STBD) is a web series about life after college. It’s a sitcom… sort of.

The Story So Far… (And Why You SHOULD NOT Start by Watching Season One)
In the beginning, there was Jack Boyd, a DJ at the struggling WANT-FM. He and his friends Leo and Dean, his sister Caroline, and her roommate Dierdre formed the core of STBD, a tale of post-collegiate life and love, of shockingly bad ideas and missed opportunities.
… and then reality happened.

Actor Dan Stripp (Jack Boyd) left the series during Season Two. Then, in Season Four, WANT-FM and Shout! Magazine, the (fictional) media outlets that powered the show’s story, were (fictitiously) shut down.
Starting in Season Four, STBD shifted to focus on Caroline and Dierdre, and their coworkers at Vanity Press and the Affogato Coffee Bar, respectively.
(This explains why the first three seasons of STBD bear little resemblance to the rest of the series. Hence, new viewers who’d like to catch up quickly should start at the beginning of Season Four — or, if you’re really good at filling in the blanks, Season Six.)

Our Humble History as Web Video Pioneers
Created and produced in Pittsburgh, PA, STBD has been online since the summer of 2003 — before YouTube, MySpace, podcasts or anything else you currently recognize about the Internet.
In 2008, STBD was nominated for Best Series in the Yahoo! Video Awards.
In 2009, series creator Justin Kownacki moved to Baltimore, placing STBD on indefinite hiatus. When will it rise again from the ashes? Subscribe for free and you’ll be among the first to know.
Tech Specs
STBD films in Pittsburgh with a local cast and crew (usually, just Justin Kownacki and a camera — we’re DIY-ish like that). We shoot our web series on mini-DV (the Panasonic DVX-100A model, to be exact), edit in Final Cut Pro, and distribute our episodes on multiple platforms, including Blip TV and iTunes.
